Quemetco is the only lead-acid battery recycler in the western US, and a key component to the success of the battery industry in California. The California battery industry directly employs approximately 1,072 workers and spends $195.9 million annually on payroll. In addition to the workers that California’s lead battery industry directly employs, it supports 1,154 supplier jobs and 830 jobs from worker spending in different industries. Together, these impacts total 3,056 jobs plus an additional 77 R&D jobs. Beyond jobs, the California lead battery industry annually supports:
